The three girls had better leave their DS to the garage

"Nine" of Rob Marshall

with Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Sophia Loren, Kate Hudson, Judi Dench, Fergie. 1: 58.

For his adaptation of the triumphant Broadway comedy, created in 1982, Rob Marshall is a homework. He wanted the best, it was. Unfortunately, the film boils down to a parade of celebrities, each entitled to one (or two) appearances choreographed, bound by a scenario foil and weighing. Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) is the largest producer of his time. His films are scandal, but they are applauded by critics and the public. In this Italian maestro covered women and ravaged by anxiety whenever he must shout "engine!", it will be recognized Fellini. But now: genius is dry down. Unable to build a scenario, he flees the real and takes refuge in a hotel by the sea, where he hopes to remain incognito with his mistress. Only women offer a bit of comfort. They are seven, including his wife, his mistress, his mother, his muse, his costume... In this bouquet of stars (who, in American fashion, interpret themselves their song and dance), Penélope Cruz won the Palm with his scorching interpretation of "A Call from the Vatican". Poor Fellini...

"Thelma and Louise and Chantal", of Benoît Pétré

with Jane Birkin, Caroline Cellier, Catherine Jacob, Thierry Lhermitte, Arié Elmaleh. 1: 30 pm.

The only funny thing in the film, it is the title - a little bit oversold, where Thelma and Louise are called Nelly and Gabrielle. But this is not the most serious. The problem is that this road-movie does not take the road. The disappointment is greater that the casting was augurer best. Nelly, prof of English a little stuck (Jane Birkin), Gabrielle, croqueuse of men desperately (Caroline Cellier) and Chantal, unhappy in love and confused from the ashes of his dog (Catherine Jacob), are childhood friends. On a whim, they decide to go to yet another marriage of Philippe (Thierry Lhermitte), who was the husband of Gabrielle. On the journey, via the national for more fun, incidents multiply, giving rise to a chain of deconstruct and distributed pretender to the comic. The final skidded in vulgarity. The three girls had better leave their DS to the garage.

"The strategy of shock", Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitecross

Documentary, 1: 22 pm.

Winterbottom has films at a speed such that one wonders how he found the time to read "The shock strategy", Naomi Klein. This monumental book reviewed 50 years of world history in explaining how the ultraliberal ideas necessary following trauma tétanisent populations: disasters, wars, repression, etc. Condensed within an hour thirty film, the demonstration is more than a list of poorly articulated examples, illustrated by a rain of archives and extracts of conferences of Naomi Klein. Famous shock strategy nonetheless - operates on a viewer tétanisé by boredom - and therefore, while ready to yield to neoliberalism.

"The tree and the forest", Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau

with Guy Marchand, Françoise Fabian, Catherine Mouchet, Yannick Renier, Sabrina Seyvecou, François Négret. 1: 37.

Homosexuality is a recurring theme of the work of Ducastel and Martineau, singular duo of filmmakers, in their UFO films, involving subtle gravity and fantasy. "The tree and the forest" is probably the darkest feature: for 60 years, Frédérick kept secret his homosexual deportation, with the complicity of his wife, Marianne. The death of one of his two sons will lead to break the silence. The actors are all great, Guy Marchand in mind in the painful role of the old man standing but broken. With Françoise Fabian, image of the woman loving and tolerant, it forms a shocking pair. Catherine Mouchet (Françoise, their daughter-in-law), plays with happiness troublemakers in this camera "bergmanien." A didactic strand, at the time of the confessions, the film found grace in the end.
